As You Wish

Perhaps the title of this blog is familiar to you. For those who are unfamiliar with it, it's a "paint your own pottery" place. So. First off. It's my father-in-laws 70th birthday soon. So that's a pretty big deal right? Except that one isty bitsy problem. WHAT DO YOU GET SOMEONE WHO HAS EVERYTHING THEY WANT?

Well.

We decided to bring my 18 month old son (*ahem* a FAVORITE of my FIL but don't tell the rest of the family) to As You Wish to make an ice cream bowl for my FIL (as a side note, my son Easton and my FIL love to eat ice cream together).

What a great idea!

Needless to say, I believe I was sweating, hair was askew, and probably forgot something valuable behind by the end of this endeavor. I really wish I had brought my camera to show you (though how I would have taken pictures I'm not sure!)

BUT!

We did get the ice cream bowl finished in one piece. We just have the same colors on our clothes is all.

So, my FIL is getting something he wants, though he doesn't know it, and something he couldn't buy, even if he did. Plus, Easton can proudly say (with the few words he picks up every day) that he did is ALL by himself! Though my husband tried to "fix" a few things, I told him that would defeat the purpose. Remember everyone, your child's art is PERFECT and meant to look EXACTLY how it turned out.

So the moral of the story? Never let your child paint until they are 18 years of age. jk

The real moral? If you can't think of a great gift to buy someone special, try to think of those who are near and dear to them, and get a personalized gift. Something they couldn't just go buy themselves. True, there is more effort involved, but those gifts ALWAYS turn out to be the perfect one!

p.s. and if any of my family reads this blog, don't tell Ed please :)
